Accumulation tables are used as temporary storage for bottles or containers. These systems are an efficient method to even out production line rates, allow upstream to continue production while downstream production is halted, and facilitate product removal for packing. A few different types of accumulation tables are alpine, bi-directional, flow through, rotary, serpentine, spiral, and vertical. Alpine conveyor systems incline or decline to a machine with a different height. Bi-directional accumulation tables are perpendicular to production and fill as product backs up they return product to the line once production continues. Flow through accumulation tables, also known as reflow or linear accumulation tables, flow parallel to production. Rotary accumulation tables consist of a rotating table that can be used to change direction of flow and can be situated perpendicular or parallel to production. Serpentine accumulation tables have a back and forth arrangement that holds product in the order it was received. Spiral accumulating conveyors are used as an elevator and an accumulator to a machine with a different height. Vertical accumulators are used to store a complete section of a line vertically until either full or production starts again.
