Capping machines place caps or lids onto bottles, jars, vials, or other containers. A few types of capping machines are: inline spindle capper, overcapper, ropp capper, chuck capper, steam vacuum capper, corker, and vial capper. Spindle cappers, also called quill cappers or inline cappers, are used in-line with production and place and torque caps onto bottles using a rotating spindle head. Overcappers, also known as over-lidders or snap cappers, place snap-on lids or caps onto bottles or containers and use rollers to close the lid. Roll On Pilfer Proof (ROPP) cappers thread and seal aluminum caps onto ridged containers. Chuck cappers, also known as rotary cappers or screw cappers, use torque heads to screw the caps onto the bottles. Steam vacuum cappers apply lug caps or push-on caps to glass containers while applying steam to the container when the steam cools it creates a vacuum that forms a tight seal. Automatic corkers, or automatic rotary corkers, insert corks into glass bottles. Vial cappers place aluminum seals or rubber stoppers onto glass vials.
