Screeners, sifters, and sieves are used to separate products according to size so they can be further processed, recycled in the production line, or discarded. The size of the screens will determine what size product will be sifted, and many times multiple screens are used to separate different sizes. Circular vibratory screeners, such as Sweco or Midwestern screeners, use a motor and eccentric weight attached to the sifting assembly to vibrate the screens. Centrifugal screeners have a screened cylinder with paddles inside that drive particles through the screen. The type, size, and number of screening stages are important in selecting a screener. Stages can be added or removed and screens can be changed for new applications.
